Aaya Casa started as a vision from our President and Founder, Ella House. Ella had a strong desire that it was time to break the silence and tell her own story. Subsequent to her own personal encounter of eight years in an abusive marriage, she chose to use her experience to help others. She Shifted her focus to becoming an advocate for domestic abuse by using her voice to speak for those who cannot (will not) speak for themselves. Awareness is a key component in changing the way our community thinks about and responds to domestic and sexual violence. It is also important to educate and inform our friends, neighbors, and the community at large regarding the availability of services in our area. Our staff works directly with community leaders and partners to raise awareness, effect social change, and address system gaps.

Community Awareness and education is a cornerstone of Aaya Casa’s mission and advocacy. We believe that it is imperative to increase public awareness about the impact of domestic and sexual violence in our community. It is an epidemic that affects us all considering nationally that one in every four women and one in seven men will be victimized in his/her lifetime. Aaya Casa services are not biased. We provide services to victims of all genders, races, ages, religious affiliations and sexual orientations.
